Tozeur has its own international airport; nevertheless it is preferable to envisage chartering at the outset (depending on the size of the group) in certain European countries given the limited frequency of international flights, limited to a few French airports. As hotel capacity does not exceed 140 rooms per hotel, this has made Tozeur an exotic incentive and holiday destination offering good prices in addition to being a region for congresses. The Red Lizard, an ancient train with a colonial spirit, once belonging to the Bey of Tunis. It has six compartments including the Bey’s own compartment and a bar where refreshments can be served to passengers during the journey. The train (privatization is possible every weekday afternoon and all day Saturday) runs almost every day, picking up passengers at the station in Metlaoui and taking them on a journey to discover the famous Selja gorges, magnificent canyons which are inaccessible by any other form of transport.

Midès:

A mountain oasis boasting a magnificent location. The village appears to be suspended above the deep gorge with its vertical walls, which surround it on three sides. The fourth side was once blocked by a wall that served to protect the village against raids.

Tamerza:

A cool mountain oasis where you can descent a few hundred meters to the Oued El Khanga ravine, below which is a superb waterfall.

Chébika:

From the summit of the Oued Khanga pass, you can survey the Djerid region, Algeria and the Chott, before returning to the tiny stone village of Chébika with its palm trees, springs and waterfalls.

Nefta:

Nicknamed the “Kairouan of the Desert” for its numerous minarets, mosques and Marabouts. Nefta is also known for its strong Sufi tradition.
